Own the Room: Powerful Presentations

Own the Room: Powerful Presentations badge

Whether you’re leading a meeting, pitching a project, or addressing a crowd, this course helps you master the skills to deliver presentations with clarity, confidence, and impact.

Grounded in the Eight Competencies of Public Speaking as defined by the National Communication Association, this workshop guides you through the essentials of designing and delivering professional presentations tailored to real-world workplace contexts.

Participants will either craft a presentation relevant to their current role or choose from sample speaking scenarios provided. The course welcomes individuals at all levels of public speaking confidence—from seasoned presenters to those with high speaking anxiety. While we’ll address strategies to reduce anxiety, the core focus is on developing solid presentation habits that project confidence and credibility. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain and apply the eight competencies of effective public speaking.
  • Recognize and manage public speaking anxiety using evidence-based techniques.
  • Define a clear presentation purpose and structure content for various audiences, timeframes, and settings.
  • Organize content to enhance clarity, interest, and credibility.
  • Deliver presentations using effective verbal and nonverbal communication, visual aids, and vocal strategies.
  • Adapt delivery to common workplace speaking scenarios (e.g., introductions, project pitches, meeting facilitation, award presentations, and more).
  • Demonstrate growth in both presentation design and delivery through practical application and feedback.
